Self-Seal® Type-SSC Intumescent Silicone Firestop Collar is a pre-fabricated, factory-assembled firestop device engineered to protect plastic pipe penetrations through fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. Built from 100% intumescent silicone housed in a low-profile galvanized steel collar, Type-SSC begins expanding rapidly at 320°F (160°C), forming a dense, highly insulative char that closes off the pipe opening as the pipe burns away or melts — delivering up to 60 times volume expansion and preventing the spread of fire, smoke, and hot gases. Because the intumescent insert contains no water-soluble or hygroscopic ingredients, it remains moisture, heat, and vibration resistant and will not crack over time. The low-profile design fits tight clearances and hard-to-reach angles.
Ideal For: Firestopping combustible plastic pipe penetrations — including PVC, PVC Foam Core (ccPVC), CPVC, ABS, ABS Foam Core (ccABS), XFR 15-50 PVC, FRPP, HDPE, PP, FRP, and PVDF — in concrete floors, concrete over steel deck, concrete walls, concrete block walls, gypsum board walls, and wood floor-ceiling assemblies. Suitable for both vented (DWV) and closed (water supply/electrical conduit) installations. Also rated for thermally expanding insulated pipes, power and communication cables, and aluminum or galvanized steel cable trays at fire separations.
