Store Assistant Manager

Company: The Caulking Store
Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Employment Type: Full-Time (up to 44 hrs per week)
Reports To: VP of Operations

Position Summary
The Store Assistant Manager plays a key role in the daily operations of The Caulking Store. This position supports all aspects of store and warehouse operations, including inventory management, staff supervision, customer service, order fulfillment, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Odoo ERP is considered an asset; however, training will be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Warehouse Management

• Monitor & maintain accurate inventory levels across all product categories.
• Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and annual physical inventories.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Ensure products are received, stored, and organized properly within the store &
warehouse.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using Odoo ERP and other company systems.
• Coordinate incoming shipments and outbound orders.
Team Leadership & Staff Support
• Assist in supervising the store and warehouse employees.
• Support the onboarding and training of new team members.
• Prepare staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours.
• Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and support.
• Foster a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment.

Store Operations
• Support daily opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure the store and warehouse remain clean, organized, and professional.
• Assist in implementing operational procedures and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate pricing, product information, and merchandising displays.

Customer Service & Sales Support
• Deliver exceptional service to contractors, distributors, and retail customers.
• Assist customers with product selection, quotations, and order processing.
• Handle customer inquiries, issues, and escalated concerns professionally.
• Support order fulfillment and work closely with sales and purchasing teams to ensure
customer satisfaction.

Health & Safety
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
• Promote safe warehouse practices and proper equipment operation.
• Participate in safety inspections, incident reporting, and corrective actions as required.

Qualifications & Skills
• Previous experience in retail, warehouse, inventory, or operations management.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based inventory systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience with Odoo ERP software.
• Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain certification.

Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Additional certification in sales, customer service, or construction materials is an asset
but not mandatory.
• 1–3 years of experience in retail, customer service, or trade supply sales preferred.
• Experience dealing with contractors, suppliers, or trade customers is a plus.

Working Conditions
Full-time Schedule: 
Current Store Hours: 7:00 AM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00AM -2:00PM
Location: On-site
• Some exposure to warehouse environment (dust, noise, variable temperatures).
• Physically able to life and handle materials as required for orders and shipments.

Compensation & Benefits
• Wage Range: $25.00 CAD Hourly (commensurate with experience)
• Vacation pays and public holidays in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards
